Don’t Call it a Comeback

I’m trying desperately this three-day weekend to come back to blogging.  To jump in with both feet and knock it out and have the writing experience be just like it was only a short year ago — fulfilling, exciting, gratifying.

I’ve been thinking a lot this weekend about why I’ve started literally 18 posts {that number is unnerving to me} without being satisfied enough to hit publish.  What am I looking for this post to be?

And then, while browsing my regular blogs I realized, I want to write and about and post things *I* want to read.

Brain Dump

Well, I was going to write about my new apt on the east coast and even show you some pictures, but I all sorts of can’t do that because my high speed internet isn’t here yet and if it doesn’t get here in 2 hours Verizon is going to be paying for my children {all 9 of them} to go to college.  At Princeton.  Even the dumb one.

So, because I can’t show you any pictures and because I’m salty and I’ve accidentally eaten all my points today here is a dump of my very scattered, very hectic excuse for a brain.  I do apologize because I really hate when bloggers do this.

So long…for now.

Friends. I have been blogging for almost 2 years. You saw me through the most exciting moment of my life and the planning that went into it. You’ve coached me through through newlyweddedness, cooking disasters and triumphs, and career angst and finally success. And now, after all that you’ve done for me, I’m bailing. For now.

My new job, which I adore, really has me using every single last intellectual diode during the day and being wife and friend of the year takes every last potential ounce of wit and charm in my evenings and weekends. Never mind the fact that occassionally I must exercise and watch what I eat.

Truthfully, I’m still trying to figure myself out and while that kind of self discovery is something I’d really like to do on the internet, I really have to prioritize and my dear Wife & Blog is last on the list.

I hope to return, renewed, with my head screwed on straight and lots of adventures and misadventures to share. But in the meantime, farewell! And thank you.

I Hate Apologists

Nothing really irks me more than when a blogger I heart drops off the face of the earth and then slowly starts popping back to the blog, but only leaving super short one liners (sorry!  I’ve been bad!  Sorry I’m such a terrible blogger!  Sorry I’m the cause of the decline of the Western  Civilization!)  Then I realized this week, after not having blogged for three days, I truly AM sorry — I know how it feels to stop into my favo blogs and not see anything updated.  I”m here to say that my attitude about absent bloggers have changed.  I’m sorry.  And I miss you.

Why so non-bloggy?  Yesterday, for example, I was in Utah.

Look at those MOUNTAINS!

This morning I woke up in Texas!

But not before I ate some tasty guac!

FRIDAY I’M FLYING TO PITTTTSSSBUUUURRRGGGGHHH.

Sorry.  That was completely necessary.

I’ll see you on Monday.  I can’t wait to tell you about my trip.

How has your week been?  Every feel blog guilty?

Lovely New Find

As a blogger I tend to heart other bloggers.  One new blogalicious read I recently stumbled upon is Genavee.

She’s a wife and law student living in none other than the District of Columbia.  I’m into her fresh insights and funny asides.  You should be, too.

Any new blogs you’re digging recently?

I HATE Formspring

Recently, as I carouse around the blogsphere, I’ve noticed a horrifying trend.  Nononono, not the babies.  The Questions.

For those of you that don’t compulsively read blogs instead of paying attention to your husband, here’s the skinny.  You go to Formspring.me.  You get an account.  You link to it {probably from your blog} and people can ANNOYMOUSLY ask you anything.  THEN you can post those answers, to your blog {thereby weeding through to the best questions…or answers} or directly via twitter.  Of course, your Formspring anonymous faithful can always log back on and see the answers you post…

Yeah…

Super Thrilling

Two things have recently occurred that have left me feeling absolutely buoyant {can you tell I’m reading Julia Childs’ biography?}

First, we did our tax returns yesterday.  While the state of VA felt that over $3,000 paid was not NEARLY enough, the Federal Government made up for it and then some.  And then some to the tune of completely paying for Their Wedding’s photography package!  It was a happy day in la casa de Wife and Blog.

Thank you John + Kimberly.  And the President.

Other special thanks go to MICHELLE of Desultory Diversions for imparting on me my FIRST EVER BLOG AWARD.  EEEeeee!  I gleefully accept Michelle’s happy blog award!  I have so many people to thank.  First, my parents for the unending entertainment that leads to hours of blog fodder.  My husband, for putting up with me constantly screaming “THIS WILL BE SO GREAT FOR THE BLOG” and pretty much ruining every moment of our lives since getting engaged.  My friends, especially Anna, Mrs. Cook and Msheed who coach me electronically through the day and read religiously. Kanye West for educating the nation on how terrible Taylor Swift really is — I get you Kanye, she’s a no talent hack and the public was too hard on you and your crazy self.  Call me.  And finally, my virtual friends.  People I’ve never laid eyes on who are supportive and wonderful and absolutely charming.  I love you.

Part of the rules of the award receiving is that I pass it on.  I will pay it forward Michelle style and give the award to 5 Very Deserving Blogs.  In no particular order, Wife and Blog’s award for Happy Blog go to:

Incredible Crunchy Flavor

Just One Week

Liv It Luv It

Good Finking

Just Married

I read these blog religiously {sometimes I check back more than once a day, hoping they’ve posted more…so shameful} and they make me VERY happy!

Hooray!  Thank you again, Michelle.  I’ve been fully enjoying YOUR blog and hope that we become internet besties immediately.

Have you had a super thrilling Tuesday?

Internet BFF

I have this friend, Julie, whom I’ve actually never met in real life.  We’re not actually BFF.  I secretly dream about being her BFF but you know, that’s creepy.  {It IS TMI Thursday after all}

Julie is disgrunted, by admission, and for good reason.  She is a fifth year PhD student in biochem and oncology.  She lives here in DC, and her HUSBAND lives in PHILLY!  {ack!}.  Julie, however, is keepin’ it real, helping lahubs get outta med school debt and reps the city of champions like it’s her job {WPA -WHAT?!}.

So.  Today W&Bers.  You will go to this link.  You will scroll down.  You will choose #95.  You will press vote.  Julie will win a new camera bag.  And all will be well with the world.

Do you have any internet BFFs?
