Our Family

This weekend, Jan and Paul came to visit.

And Eric and FSIL were able to stop on through on their way to help FSIL’s dad move into his new digs.

It was so nice to have everyone together.

On Loosing Your Sibling

Before we were married, Mrs. C wrote elegantly over at Bride and Blog about her sister’s reaction {and Mrs. C’s subsequent reaction to a friend’s pregnancy} to a huge life altering change in a close relationship caused by marriage.

I was the first to get married in my close circle of friends. Because I have great friends, I rarely had to worry about comments from them about needing to spend more time with them or us moving in different directions – but I assume those conversations were had behind my back. Not in mean spirit but as an honest reaction to me moving on with my life and getting married and “leaving” my friends behind. I know my sister, for one, had this reaction to my marriage. …she’s crying so hard at the rehearsal that she can’t make it down the aisle. Dad and I are off to the right laughing so hard that we start crying. “I’m losing my sister!” is all she kept saying. source

Ohhh K. I’ve been thinking a lot about this post and what it means to me, as my brother is getting married six months from  yesterday.

Merry Holidays 09: Decoration Rewind

Before the Pickle, the Gbread house and the Calzones we had to decorate my parents’ family tree.

This happened the Sunday after Thanksgiving, which you remember, was spent on a sexy date in Pittsburgh.

Congratulations!

One of my very favorite people in the whole entire universe had a baby this weekend.  And we here at Wife and Blog could not be more excited.  Because

  1. We’ve never known an actual person {other than older family members} that have had a child.
  2. I want to practice not horrifying children
  3. We LURVE Miss M

We promise to deliver more updates {read:  pictures} of da bebe as soon as we get them!

L’s first Thanksgiving as LNRB: Take I

As noted, we spent the holiday with my family in Jtown as the result of my work schedule.  To this end, MB’s family came to NOVA to celebrate with us, in style, plus turkey a few weeks early — so we were able to bask in married glory with all our family for our first major holiday with matching last names.

jan reports that turkeys in fact ONLY have one gobbler

As you can see I was pretty pumped about my decorations.

Our Favorites

MB and I have a lot of things to be belatedly thankful for.  One of these includes our families.  Which include some of the cutest members that ever were — our dogs.

Lucy, Kanga and Archie, respectively.

Does your family have a non-human member{s} to be thankful for?

Lucy for President

Of the dogs.

Lucy has been entered in the Hallmark “A Dog Named Christmas” photo contest.  If my brother and FSIL win they’ll get $1,000 cash {hello Honeymoon!!!} and Lucy will be featured on a Hallmark card.  And you can say you knew her when.  All you have to do to vote is follow this link and click on “Vote for this Pooch”!  You can only vote once but make sure to send the link to pretty much everyone you know to vote!

Have you ever entered your pooch in a contest?

Home for the Holidays

Now that we’re all nice and married, and we are quickly nearing the middle of November {SO crazy, right?} it’s time to start thinking and in some cases executinig our co-mingled family holiday operation 2009.  Or what we call Home for the Holidays.

October 22, 2011

MB and I have married for two GLORIOUS months.  In a way the time has FLOWN.  This time last year I felt like the months were meanly DRAGGING but now I feel we are moving at super warp speed.  At the same time I feel like MB and I have married FOR-EV-ER.  And not in the bad way.  I can’t remember my life without him as my husband, because frankly, I don’t want to remember a life where I wasn’t so totally blissed out on love 24/7.  All dorkiness aside we’re pretty pumped.

As part of our 2 month anniversary celebration we made one big huge life couple decision.  About children.

This is the baby of HC’s bestie, whom I stalk on the regular. Do you NOT want to demand him for your own?!
