As I gear up for a crazy new year celebration {most likely spent recovering from some weird strain of the flu on a couch or mattress on a floor} I’ve been thinking a lot about resolutions and goals for the coming year. Since MB moved to CA, it’s been really easy for me to fall into a pattern of hoping and dreaming about what the next steps are going to look like in our life as the aperture is WIDE open because of our new life style. I can dream big.
I quickly realized, though, that making lots of plans based on dreams for the near future is a bit silly and has left me feeling out of control and salty. As I browsed my all but neglected twitter feed, I ran into the always inspirational lululemon, who was touting the goal of one of their employees; homegirl is going to run an ultra marathon next year.
Everyone take a deep breath. I will NOT be running an ultra marathon. What I DID decide from that extreme runner’s piece, though is that I need to start setting goals not planning on dreams. Lucky for me the ever helpful lululemon has some tools to help me start setting goals for the year of the rabbit.

go ahead, admit it. you missed our faces.

To say that I’ve spent an ecstatic day fill with euphoria and love would be by all accounts a bold faced lie. However, there were heart shaped strawberry flavored cupcakes which could only be a plus.

I won’t bore anyone with all the details of malaise which I’m sure I’ll get to this week and in the meantime I’m going to spend some QT with my favorite Valentines. I hope everyone had a love and cupcake filled day.

We {and by we I mean me} woke up early on Christmas morning to start making breakfast. I did all of the cooking that weekend to help out. My mom really kills herself in the kitchen when are all together, especially for holidays. So I volunteered. As you know I made the calzones, and the baked french toast that I popped in the oven to get cooking. In addition to the french toast on Christmas morning, we also had some of the Pioneer Woman’s breakfast bowls!

The New Year has been rung — the champagne consumed. The Best Mans are on the road and the tree has been taken down and the living room rearranged. We are slowly putting our regular dishes in place of our holiday ones and putting our lives back together. I’ll be back tomorrow to finish the break down of our holidays and a recap of the last year and decade. Welcome 2010! Talk soon!!

At at time when most of us are busy perfecting our New Year’s Resolutions, I take comfort in knowing that I don’t have one. I actually have a list of things, as you know, that I want to accomplish, and the only resolution I might be able to eek out is in regards to the list: finish it.
I am however, very resolute about one thing.

Before the Pickle, the Gbread house and the Calzones we had to decorate my parents’ family tree.

This happened the Sunday after Thanksgiving, which you remember, was spent on a sexy date in Pittsburgh.

After a non harrowing drive from NOVA to Jtown, MB and I relaxed, did some last-minute shopping and awaited Janny’s triumphant return from work. After she got home, Big Paul soon followed and Eric followed by AG, KNoon and FSIL. And a gingerbread house. They got to work right away.
