“She Had a History of Shooting People”

Reported MB to our neighbors, S+J, while we relaxed after dinner in our living room.  This was of course in reference to the professor in Alabama that shot up her faculty meeting after not receiving tenure.

“No seriously, she shot and killed her brother and had pulled a gun on someone else”.

We were so horrified that we couldn’t help but laugh uncomfortably.  The conversation really had me  thinking — What is WRONG with everyone?!

Proust

I read Vanity Fair religiously.  Others who practice the religion know that at the back of every edition they print, in part, the Proust questionnaire as filled out by a celebrity.  Proust believed that in answering these questions, one could really drill into the depths of another.  Ralph Lauren’s is by far my fav.

I found the questionnaire in toto at Live.Love.Laughand absolutely adored filling it out!  Do enjoy and share yours in part or in full in the comments.

The Office Wedding

I love the Office on NBC.  Which, like alot of things that have any staying power with yours truly, I really started off hating.  I LURVED the original version of this program on the BBC and found the American antics over done and lame.  Thankfully, after a few seasons The Office really hit its stride and MB and I happily tune in every week.  That is EXACTLY what we’ll be doing on 10/8 when The Office wedding finally happens.

Kanye West is Officially a Spoiled Brat

We here at Wife & Blog lurve celebrities.  Mostly because they are a pleasant reminder that we are in fact high functioning, successful, normal people {albeit it a smidge underpaid by comparison} living good drug/hooker/bender/arrest/sextape free lives.  {or if they are completely free of those things at least the entire universe doesn’t know, yes?}

In our constant adoration of “the stars” we run across those that are misbehaved beyond belief and must be deleted from our radar until they can clean up their act and play nicely with the almost as spoiled.

Case in Point:  Kanye West

After his now infamous rantless than 24 hours ago affecting Taylor Swifts “moment” where in she accepts an over sized moonman for her “artistic triumphs” {over Lady Gaga…?} Kanye West is now off of our list — even of those we love to hate.

Behold:  His list of ultimate bratitude that is hilarious yes, but we’re too embarrassed for him to keep on adoring him.

Bernie Madoff is an Arse, Yes

But where does one draw the line in the repudiation of someone who knowingly and willingly stole millions of dollars from the unsuspecting?  Le sigh.

Thank God for Our Vapid Soceity

Listen, I love most things that our pop culture has to offer.  Rachel Zoe screaming about how life picking out dresses is so stressful {the Wife and Blog household love La Zoe, FYI}, watching whom we call the Fat Bachelor choose women for their heart not their dress size despite the fact they were put on the show for just that.  And someone named Megan who has appeared on more reality shows than I have You Tube videos {shocking, right?} trying to “find love” on Megan Want a Millionaire {thank you VH1!}.

I relish most of these shows, and programs like them, because it is a gentle reminder that the reality I inhabit has nothing to do with weekly elimination ceremonies, boom microphones in my face, or my own taped commentary on why or why not I might be falling madly in love with someone I hardly know.  I will admit, however,  that the impact of this kind of pop culture shift, from the inane to the completely bizarre has lead to a  country seemingly obsessed more and more with appearance, status and money, rather than the things that really count.  But what if your vapid obsession with your appearance could help catch your killer?

Yep, that happened.
