My Favorite Day

Today is my favorite day of the year.

This day, 27 years ago, the love of my life entered the world as a tiny little baboo.

Last year, we celebrate with a massage, a bad ass tour of the White House and best of all (JK only sort of) getting our wedding photos.

Two years ago we celebrated at MB’s least favorite restaurant in the world.

Four years ago we celebrated in Pittsburgh.



And this year, we’ll celebrate on separate coasts.

MB is the best human being that was ever brought onto this planet.

 

I’m so lucky that he was born, that we found our way to each other and that he continues, year after glorious year, to put up with my shenanigans.

Salty First Anniversary!

When you get married, after the cake and the flowers and the dress and the tux and the shoes and the hair and the centerpieces and the photo slideshows and the cards and favors and the dj and the memories have all been eaten dried preserved returned reworn washed packed shared read enjoyed thanked and cherished you immediately {well if you’re me, it’s immediate} start thinking of all the cool and awesome things that will happen when you’re actually married. Like you first big accomplishment as husband and wife {we BOTH got new jobs this year!}, your first big fight {let’s get that out of the way early}, and especially your first anniversary.

Now, let me get one thing straight. I had no illusions that my first anniversary would be like ribbons and flowers and diamonds everywhere. I thought at MOST it would be a night in the holiday inn where we spent our first H+W night, a nice brunch at our favo crepe place and a drive back to Jtown. At LEAST it would be a hug and a kiss and a card.

And then. We moved to California.

Well, half of we did anyway.

Ok, here’s the thing.  I barely like our dog. 

Lucky for me {but unlucky for J + P} the Kangster is living in Jtown until we can drive him to the West Coast.  Bad for J+P because Kanga and their dog Archie are having a poop and pee face off.  It is exactly what it sounds like.  So I’m just going to leave it there.

Recently, the Pioneer Woman got a new cat.

And it reminded me of how much MB missed his {devil} cats from childhood and the occasional joy of Kanga’s company at home.  And then I had the worst idea ever.  Should MB get a cat in CA?

Relationship Ending No More

Today, like as in right now, I’m sitting in an airport waiting to board to take me home.  Like to my real home.

MB is driving up from our other home to meet me there this evening.  One would think that he’d be picking me up at the airport with roses and hugs and kisses, as it’s been well over 5 days since I’ve seen his face.

But that’s not the case.

As I mentioned earlier this week, this marks our first out of state vacation together as husband and wife.  What is more miraculous is this is the first time MB and I have ever traveled on a plane together. 

Defending Their Honor

This is going to be a quick one, as in 45 minutes we’re headed to PA to spend some quality time with my family.  It’s been since CHRISTMAS and they have been holding my Cricut hostage.  To avenge!

Speaking of avenging — how do you handle situations where your spouse or significant other has been hurt?  Especially when it might not be your business to get involved.  Do you feel that it is your business because they are your SO and jump to their aid OR to you wait for them to ask for advice/help/support?

As you can guess, I leap without looking — but I’m anxious to hear how the rest of your defend your love’s honor.

I Belong to Him

MB, as you may or may not know, returns triumphantly today.  I’m super pumped to see him.  It’s been a grueling 147839207483824709328 days; I’m ready to get back into sleeping through the alarm, fussing at him to hurry/clean up, and ending the day together.

In light of the fact that MB’s been gone for a whole 10 days I did what any really bored, self respecting 26 year old wife does.  I internet stalked my husband.  And I realized I’m a pretty lucky girl.

I Miss Him

It should probably go without saying that I really super miss my husband when he’s away.  I’ve particularly missed him this time.

MB’s Christmas Gift

Part of the joy of being married to yours truly is getting to eat Mexican food at least three times a week.  Couple that with her bestie, MSheed’s love of Mexican and a spouse of LNRB will be privy to Mexican fare probably 5-6 times a week.  Unfortunately for MB, Mexican food so regularly is not really high on his love of life lists, especially at the establishments that we absolutely adore.  So in keeping with Christmas traditions of selflessness and giving, Msheed and I WILDLY and GRACIOUSLY allowed MB one dinner at the restaurant of his choice that was NOT Mexican.  He chose PF Changs.

Internet Inspiration for Myself & My Marriage

One of the things I love most about blogging, besides the narcissistic high of seeing my own thoughts and words in “print”, is making cyber connections with other people {mostly women} who share a passion or two of mine.  We all know about my adoration of That Wife and she gave me some hearty life inspiration yesterday.
