As an impromptu date, MB and I hauled ourselves into the District to take in God’s Pottery, a group that we’d read about in the Metro Express circa Tuesday of last week. Held at the DC 9 night club, this comedy hour was by far one of the best I’ve seen live in person since Eric’s buddy’s performance at my bridal shower.
This high energy duo of Last Comic Standing legend, spoof 2 hyper-stereotypical ultra-Christians, Gideon Lamb and Jeremiah Smallchild, who have taken to the United States, guitar and two toned hand bell in tow, to educate “the youth” about Christ’s saving power — especially in terms of troubling issues such as pre-marital sex, masturbation, drinking, and probably the worst — non Christians.
MB and I are pretty easy going as far as laughs are concerned, but I seriously thought I was going to need to be carried out of there on a stretcher. I’ve never laughed so hard on a Sunday night in all my life. For me the hilarity reached its pinnacle when at the end of the show when they sang the song “Jesus, I Need a Drink”, where in the youth in the audience were encouraged to “…go on a bender with Jesus and get falling down drunk on the Lord.”
Overall, we had an amazing night with fantastic entertainment. We were super lucky in that the crowd was very small so the performance was highly personal, making it 19 million times more hilarious.
And while what was being said and done seemed ridiculous, it is in our experience that the true scenarios are the most funny…more to come!
What did you do last night?
