After a non harrowing drive from NOVA to Jtown, MB and I relaxed, did some last-minute shopping and awaited Janny’s triumphant return from work. After she got home, Big Paul soon followed and Eric followed by AG, KNoon and FSIL. And a gingerbread house. They got to work right away.
Once, in my past life, I was gifted a gingerbread house making kit. It was unbelievably anti climactic. You can’t eat anything, the “gingerbread” tastes like dead wood and the icing is impossible to work with. Plus the house ends up looking like garbage and ruining Christmas. Eric and FSIL would not be deterred.
When the walls of the Gbread house weren’t being raised the way they’d like ’em, Big Paul stepped…with an industrial sized rubber band to hold that ish together.
The icing, of course was impossible, so Eric took to the Kitchen Aid Stand mixer, and made an attempt to thicken it up.
Once the icing was thickened and the walls secured by heavy duty rubber, the team took to icing the whole entire house…over the rubber band.
In the end, the house came out OK. Save for the huge gaping hole in the roof, but whatevs.
The proprietors were thrilled.
Christmas eve! Here we come!
Did you make any non edible beautious things over the holidays?
